If you’ve ever relaxed in Kia’s special leather seating, you know how luxurious it looks and feels. However, that sophistication doesn’t come without a little work, so take a look at our helpful tips and tricks on how to properly maintain your Kia’s leather so it stays as clean and comfortable as the day you bought it.
Kia Leather Cleaning Instructions
Follow these step-by-step instructions on how to maintain your Kia’s leather interior:
- First, go over your interior with a soft-bristled brush or vacuum attachment to get rid of any dirt or crumbs that may have accumulated in the cracks of the seating.
- To wash your leather, follow the “Two Bucket” approach. This involves having two buckets, one with soapy water and one with clean water. Take a soft cloth and get it wet with the soapy water, squeeze out, and then go over your leather, paying special attention to any cracks or crevices. Then, rinse the cloth in the plain water, squeeze out, and go over the leather again. This will remove any leftover soap residue.
- Go over the leather one more time with a dry cloth to soak up any excess moisture.
- Finish the job by applying a leather protection cream. This will protect the pigment and keep your leather looking fresh.
- If you park in the sun, be sure to always use a windshield sun shade. This is due to the fact that the sun can dry out your leather, causing it to crack or discolor.

Other Tips:
- Avoid eating and drinking in your vehicle, as spills can permanently stain your leather.
- Be careful with bringing sharp objects into your vehicle, like pens or car seats. Hard metal or plastic can easily rip through your leather.
- Always use a soft-bristled brush versus a hard-bristled brush, as hard-bristled brushes can scratch the leather.
