The 2019 Kia Optima will offer the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite of features as standard equipment on all models across the car’s lineup. The ADAS collection of features includes a variety of safety and driver assistance systems.
Included in the ADAS suite are the Forward Collision Warning System (FCW) and the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system. FCW is designed to detect potential collisions and warn the driver. FCA is able to automatically apply the brakes to reduce the speed of the vehicle.
Other features offered as part of the ADAS suite include Driver Attention Warning, which monitors the driver and provides an alert if it senses attention level has been reduced, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning. The second two systems detect if the vehicle has strayed out of its intended lane and can either alert the driver or apply corrective steering.
