2023 Kia Niro HEV, Niro PHEV, and Niro EV Launched at New York Auto Show
The electrified Kia Niro lineup consisting of the Niro Hybrid, Niro Plug-in Hybrid, and the all-electric Niro EV has gotten a fresh redesign, and it looks and drives better than ever before. Kia America took the wraps off the redesigned 2023 Kia Niro lineup at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) 2022 earlier this month, and we at Kia of Irvine in Irvine, CA, cannot wait to share more details with you.
Redesigned 2023 Kia Niro Lineup
The all-new 2023 Niro lineup has been designed from the ground up to meet the expectations of eco-minded consumers. And all three models, including the 2023 Kia Niro HEV, Niro PHEV, and the all-electric Niro EV, now come with striking styling cues and feature Kia’s new “Opposites United” design philosophy that seeks inspiration from nature and aerodynamic refinement and are heavily influenced by the HabaNiro concept.
The 2023 Niro looks more futuristic than the outgoing model, which features a more conservative crossover look. The new Niro features an “Aero Blade” profile panel that gives it a swooping design, which helps it achieve an impressive drag coefficient of 0.29.
It features striking new daytime running lights (DRL) which flank the signature tiger-nose grille. A new heartbeat-shaped rear reflector, rugged-looking skid plate garnish, and lower bumper enhance the front-end design.
Move to the rear, and you will see all-new boomerang-shaped LED taillights which do not interfere with the hatch, unlike the current model, for a more concise and aerodynamic style. A black door cladding distinguishes the 2023 Niro HEV and Niro PHEV behind the rear and blacked-out wheel arches, while the Niro EV comes with a Steel Grey or black exterior trim.
The 2023 Niro is also more spacious, thanks to the Niro’s increased dimensions. The wheelbase increases to 107.1 inches, and the overall length increases to 174 inches. Cargo capacity behind the rear seats has also been increased to 22.8 cubic feet. And with 6.3 inches of ground clearance, the 2023 Niro can easily handle urban activities.

What’s Under the Hood of the 2023 Kia Niro?
The 2023 Niro HEV hybrid and Niro PHEV come equipped with a 139-hp 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Kia claims that the 2023 Niro HEV should get an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of 53 mpg, which is three mpg higher than its predecessor.
More powerful 2023 Kia Niro PHEV
The 2023 Kia Niro PHEV brings a more powerful electric motor and an 11.1-kWh battery pack, which improves its electric driving range to around 33 miles per charge. Plus, with the help of a Level 2 Charger, you will be able to charge the Niro PHEV from low to 100 in under three hours.
Improved range on the 2023 Kia Niro EV
Those interested in the 2023 Kia Niro EV can expect an improved electric drive range of up to 253 miles on a single charge, despite the newer model coming with the same 201-hp electric motor with a 64.8-kWh battery pack. The improved range represents a significant upgrade over the predecessor’s 239-mile range. Also, the Niro EV will support 85kW DC fast charging, which is enough to get its battery from 10 to 80 percent in 45 minutes.
As far as the launch date is concerned, the 2023 Niro HEV, Niro PHEV, and Niro EV will go on sale this summer.
